Back in November, Al Gore was quoted as saying that "simply laying out the facts won't work". And of course, what isn't working is his anti-capitalist, anti-Western global warming scheme meant to line his pockets while preaching doom.
The reason simply laying out the facts won't work is because many of these facts are proving him to be quite the liar:
Wolfgang Knorr of the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Bristol reanalyzed available atmospheric carbon dioxide and emissions data since 1850 and considers the uncertainties in the data.In contradiction to some recent studies, he finds that the airborne fraction of carbon dioxide has not increased either during the past 150 years or during the most recent five decades.
The research is published in Geophysical Research Letters.
I'm sure you've seen that published in your daily dose of of MSM objective reporting correct?
No?
Well golly gee willikers... I wonder why not?

While Wolfgang Knorr's research is interesting and raises some valid questions, it has minimal impact on climate alarmism because while the airborne fraction of CO2 has not increased, the absolute concentration of CO2 in the air has increased and is expected to continue to increase. According to Al Gore approved climatologists, it's that increasing concentration that drives global warming.
Al Gore's latest effort is to circumvent science and "to appeal to those who believe there is a moral or religious duty to protect the planet." Actually, environmentalism has been the driving force behind AGW from its inception, so Gore is just getting back to basics.

Actually, he is not saying that CO2 PPMv are not increasing. What he is saying, is that if in a year, humans add 10 tons or 100,000,000 tons, that the fraction of that amount absorbed by the biosphere remains constant. Which is something like .7 +/-1.4%.
I do not particularly believe that CO2 levels are increasing as much as the Mauna Loa Observatory says it is, but it is likely increasing to some degree. It is also plausible, that the increase is perfectly natural, with only a small fraction of the increase being attributed to man, as the oceans warm, they automatically release CO2 since the solubility of CO2 in water decreases as temperature increases.

Here is the actual article, for those of you who are scientifically literate enough to read it. All it's saying is that plants and oceans continue to absorb about 55% of the CO2 we emit. Therefore the "fraction" has stayed the same even while the total amount has increased. The real worry here is that eventually the plants and oceans are going to reach a CO2 saturation point wherein they won't be able to absorb as much. When (and if, for you nay-sayers) that happens, atmospheric CO2 will rise much faster than it is now. What's worse, and as a previous post points out, as ocean temperatures warm, their ability to hold CO2 decreases, and they will start to give off CO2 gas. Then we'll get a boost in atmospheric CO2 from our emissions that can no longer be absorbed AND the rerelease of CO2 from previous emissions that had temporarily been stored by the oceans.
No Rise of Airborne Fraction of Carbon Dioxide in Past 150 Years, New Research Finds
ScienceDaily (Dec. 31, 2009) -- Most of the carbon dioxide emitted by human activity does not remain in the atmosphere, but is instead absorbed by the oceans and terrestrial ecosystems. In fact, only about 45 percent of emitted carbon dioxide stays in the atmosphere.
However, some studies have suggested that the ability of oceans and plants to absorb carbon dioxide recently may have begun to decline and that the airborne fraction of anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions is therefore beginning to increase.
Many climate models also assume that the airborne fraction will increase. Because understanding of the airborne fraction of carbon dioxide is important for predicting future climate change, it is essential to have accurate knowledge of whether that fraction is changing or will change as emissions increase.
To assess whether the airborne fraction is indeed increasing, Wolfgang Knorr of the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Bristol reanalyzed available atmospheric carbon dioxide and emissions data since 1850 and considers the uncertainties in the data.
In contradiction to some recent studies, he finds that the airborne fraction of carbon dioxide has not increased either during the past 150 years or during the most recent five decades.
The research is published in Geophysical Research Letters.

Atmospheric CO2 levels (as well as other greenhouse gases) continue to increase. The fraction of total CO2 emissions absorbed by forests and oceans has not decreased.
