About Janet Napolitano's statement that the Christmas Day terrorist attack does not appear to be part of a larger plot: the bomber tells us otherwise:
American officials have cause to worry there may be more al Qaeda-trained young men in Yemen planning to bring down American jets.Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, charged with the attempted Christmas Day bombing of Northwest Airlines flight 253, told FBI agents there were more just like him in Yemen who would strike soon.
And in a tape released four days before the attempted destruction of the Detroit-bound Northwest plane, the leader of al Qaeda in Yemen boasted of what was planned for Americans, saying, "We are carrying a bomb to hit the enemies of God."
I've seen a number of people call for Janet Napolitano to resign, but her resignation would not make us any safer. The person who is wholly responsible for our safety and security is currently relaxing in Hawaii. He is the one who sets the goals for Homeland Security. Napolitano's claims that the system worked even though Abdulmutallab managed to get on the plane with an explosive is not just a reflection of Napolitano herself; it's a reflection of how the Obama administration views national security. If she leaves, Obama will fill her position with someone just like her. The bench of pansy-assed Homeland Security Secretaries is a deep one. We won't be any safer until we have a president who takes national security and the war on terror seriously.
If you're waiting with bated breath for the president to say something about the attempted bombing, he will "likely" address it in the next few days.

I look for some knee jerk reaction to this in the coming days. The current administration has a track record of sitting on the sidelines and agonizing over what to do on issues which require decisiveness and quick action, while screaming for action on issues where a delay makes little difference.
Unfortunately we are saddles with a REACTIVE president who will look at how to make sure this exact scenario never hapens again.
Look for lines forcing us to show our underwear at airports across the country.

One of the most obvious problems with staffing cabinet positions in the Obama White House is that they are treated as plums to reward loyalists instead of serious jobs to be filled with the most competent people.
Homeland Security is just one of them. Napolitano's chief contribution so far has been to wussify our terrorism lexicon and issue press releases.
A solid B+. Give her another $100 billion.

He should just stay in Hawaii indefinetly as a beach bum.

Since Napolitano can't even decide if the system worked or failed during this incident, it's no wonder that she can't figure out whether or not this is part of a larger plot. This is the sort of thing that happens when dolts are in charge.

Actually, the system did work. The pat down, no-fly lists, carry on luggage restrictions, and air marshals are actually diversions from the real security process. The TSA has magicians manning checkpoints at various airports who cast spells to disable the detonators. That way, they can arrest the terrorists for actually trying to carry out a terrorist act without falling afoul of the politically correct crowd who will whine that there would have been no terrorist acts anyway. THe fact that the detonator fizzled meant that the spell was successfully cast and the terrorist was not aware of it and did not have countermeasures in place.
We also see that the TSA counterspells are working as no airplane has exploding upon being hit by an enemy spell.

Judging by the comments no one has actually bothered to read anything about the attempted bombing. Our TSA is supposed to screen people on the plane before they even land in America? Cause he wasn't flying out of the US, he was flying out of Nigeria. Our customs had nothing to do with this. Our security had nothing to do with this. Learn to read before you post your political views without facts to back them up.
