Yet another credentialed heretic speaks against the Gore-acle:
I am a scientist, not a climatologist, so I don't dabble in climatology. My speciality is the epidemiology of mosquito-borne diseases. As the film [An Inconvenient Truth] began, I knew Mr Gore would get to mosquitoes: they're a favourite with climate-change activists. When he got to them, it was all I feared. In his serious voice, Mr Gore presented a nifty animation, a band of little mosquitoes fluttering their way up the slopes of a snow-capped mountain, and he repeated the old line: Nairobi used to be 'above the mosquito line, the limit at which mosquitoes can survive, but now...' Those little mosquitoes kept climbing.
The truth? Nairobi means 'the place of cool waters' in the Masai language. The town grew up around a camp, set up in 1899 during the construction of a railway, the famous 'Lunatic Express'. There certainly was water there -- and mosquitoes. From the start, the place was plagued with malaria, so much so that a few years later doctors tried to have the whole town moved to a healthier place. By 1927, the disease had become such a plague in the 'White Highlands' that £40,000 (equivalent to about £350,000 today) was earmarked for malaria control. The authorities understood the root of the problem: forest clearance had created the perfect breeding places for mosquitoes. The disease was present as high as 2,500m above sea level; the mosquitoes were observed at 3,000m. And Nairobi? 1,680m.
These details are not science. They require no study. They are history. But for activists, they are an inconvenient truth, so they ignore them. Even if Mr Gore is innocent, his advisers are not. They have been spouting the same nonsense for more than a decade. As scientists, we have repeatedly challenged them in the scientific press, at meetings and in news articles, and we have been ignored.
You need to read it all. You need to pass it on.
Al Gore is a liar.

Gore's pseudo-environmentalist mentality is the same as that if the people who got DDT banned, based on fear-mongering and baseless hysteria, the result of which was another wave of deaths in the undeveloped world as malaria returned in places where it had been defeated.

from watts up with that

In this Reuters story (15 December 2009) they report: "Describing a 'runaway melt' of the Earth's ice, rising tree mortality and prospects of severe water scarcities, Gore told a UN audience: 'In the face of effects like these, clear evidence that only reckless fools would ignore, I feel a sense of
frustration' at the lack of agreement so far
But if you look at the REAL data you find this
Globally net primary productivity (NPP) has increased. As the IPCC's WG II report (p. 106) says:
Satellite-derived estimates of global net primary production from satellite data of vegetation indexes indicate a 6% increase from 1982 to 1999, with large increases in tropical ecosystems (Nemani et al., 2003) [Figure 1]. The study by Zhou et al. (2003), also using satellite data, confirm that the Northern Hemisphere vegetation activity has increased in magnitude by 12% in Eurasia and by 8% in NorthAmerica from 1981 to 1999

Gore has made claims going as far back as 2004, claiming that sea levels would rise at least a dozen feet within 10 years.
It's been 5 years and there hasn't been any proof that it has occurred. Even a 3 foot rise could easily be seen by those living in NYC, LA, or other coastal cities.
But now he moves the goalposts, so that he is always claiming disaster is within so many years unless governments impose carbon restrictions. Restrictions which will enable him and his cohorts to reap billions in 'carbon credit' sales and purchases.
Follow the money.

While I believe many scientists pushing AGW are self-deluded, there's no doubt that Al Gore is a liar. What's worse is that many proponents of what's happening in Copenhagen don't care if AGW is built on errors and lies. Certainly developing nations see this as an opportunity to extract vast sums of money from developed nations, and they view claims that AGW is a hoax as a conspiracy by developed nations to rob them of their just compensation. Left wingers are all about redistribution of wealth and AGW is just a tool that helps them do that.
Among the victims of the AGW scam are scientists like Paul Reiter and "authentic science" as he calls it. As the truth emerges, as it always does, all "consensus" based science will take a hit. Perhaps some good will come out of this such as laws that require all science that intersects with public policy be fully transparent.

What about the history of malaria in Nairobi, England's Essex marshes, central Sweden, or the 1922-23 a malaria epidemic that swept the Soviet Union as far north as Archangel, on the Arctic circle, killing an estimated 600,000 people? This is really very simple. One of the fundamental roadblocks to effective economic development programs in the so-called developing world is the environmental movement. Here are just a few:
1. The prevention of traditional settlement/migration patterns of human population due to "environmental concerns"
over land use, "bio-diversity," and habitat protection.
2. The lack of enhanced agricultural productivity based on the implementation of Norman Borlaug's "Green Revolution" in Africa due to "concern" over the use of fertilizers and pesticides.
3. The death of millions of African children due to the suspension of indoor residual spraying of DDT for decades because of the now clearly unfounded hysteria arising from Rachel Carson's Silent Spring.
4. And, in the future, what looks like it might be the most damaging negative intervention of them all. Think about this. If the Copenhagen monstrosity is forced on a reluctant world population, not only will the standard of living of the developed world be lowered, but, in all likelihood, the international bureaucracy managing the program will force African and other developing nations to focus money, personnel and resources to deal with the phantom bogeymen of environmentalism rather than the improved well-being of the native population.
One could probably add to this list, but whenever the malaria issue is brought up, my blood pressure starts to elevate.
No, at some point, in a truly just world, the larger environmental political movement and its willing Kool-Aid drinkers should be brought to justice for the African genocide they have already caused - preventable deaths from malaria - but the many and varied other impacts, such as food and medicine shortages, which can easily be tied to their unreasonable and intransigent attitudes.
