I don't know why, but Republican politicians generally seem to be better comedians than Democratic politicians. We saw something like this with McCain and Obama addressing the Alfred Smith dinner last year. Obama was funny, but McCain was hilarious.

It's a pity everybody is so tightly controlled on the campaign trail. McCain, Bob Dole, and (to an extent) Al Gore are all funny as hell when they're allowed to go off script.
