I used to spend time on a web site which discussed religion. Like politics, religion is one of those topics where civil discussion is difficult, and a lot of the posters will attack anyone whose views are seen as notably different from their own. People who hold strong beliefs are expected not only to defend their beliefs, but to do so to the standards of the critic.
Where that has been difficult for Christians, is the fact that many Christians do not live by the creed they claim to follow. Many self-identified Christians are selfish hypocrites, willing to say or do whatever will get them what they want, while judging every other belief system as inferior to their own moral standards. That's not to say the majority of Christians are this way, but enough of them are, including some high-profile "ministers", to make it difficult to answer the charge. You should do what you say you believe.
That's also why I cannot take Liberals (capital L, as in Loser) seriously. In every major issue, Liberals are loud and aggressive in their rhetoric, but they don't come close to living the way they talk. For all his talk, the book, speeches and a Nobel Prize, Al Gore's palatial estate and private jet prove he's a phony with regard to the planet - the man has personally done more polluting than many corporations he attacks. Michael Moore has been the most prominent enemy of Capitalism and Free Enterprise since Stalin, but he has no problem making piles of money off his lies. Barack Obama ran on the promise of helping the poor by fleecing the rich, but the net effect of his policies since his inauguration have hurt poor and minorities more than anyone else. And so on, ad nauseum - there is not even one high-profile Liberal who can point to his or her life as proof that they live the way they demand everyone else live. The media protects them, but the regular people are beginning to see through the charade.
It's difficult just now, to see how this will play out in the 2010 elections. Liberals have done a good job in the past of hiding their hypocrisy, but it also illustrates that they have a thing shell - if their façade fails under pressure, their foundation falls apart quicker than a John Kerry war hero claim.

Christians recognize that they are imperfect and that they will never be perfect in their lifetime. However, they don't view this as a reason to set their goals to less than perfection.

Why single out one group of hypocrites? Why not just hate them all?

I absolutely agree with you on this post. In both regards we see actions much quicker than we see beliefs, which make us angry.
It is hard to be a member of the working poor, and see those around me idolize this president. He has done nothing but make life more difficult- all the legislation against small farms(the requirement to chip all our animals-while big corporations need only chip one to represent the whole) make it difficult for my family to be responsible and care for our own needs. I find it interesting that so many rushed out to grab the free money given out if Detroit. Being just an average folk- I saw that as bribery. Poor does not mean stupid, nor needy. One on this end of the economic ladder is amazed at how ridiculous the left appears.
The same is true for the those who are so in your face about their faith. If I hurry right now, I can send 10 dollars in a pastor on tv will pray for me for 10 minutes...sick and full of nonsense.
If anyone wanted to know what someone who falls in the below poverty category thinks- here it is- fix the schools...How on earth can the people in Detroit not comprehend that the free money is off the backs of hard working Americans? Our fine president is not paying one penny to them. Fix our schools and stop the multicultural nonsense(my family is a minority-we don't need you to glamorize Kwanzaa- and the thug that created it) I prefer that Charles Drew be spotlighted more. Teach the Constitution-I mean Nancy Pelosi can ignore a valid question about where in the Constitution the government can make citizens have healthcare!I say fix the schools, bring back PE...that will begin reducing the obesity problem. Return recesses to the schools.

WildWillie,
I thought the point was that some Christians and some Liberals don't practice what they preach. I am an equal opportunity hater. I hate both country and western.

Agreed Ed Begley and Bill Nye both walk the walk, though I find Nye much more entertaining.
I dislike hypocrites, at least if you actually practice what you preach I can respect you as a person.
Say what you want about me but though there are many things I believe which I will never say, I will never say the things that I do not believe. (Thank You Glenn)

There are some that do walk the walk and you are right, Ed Begley is a huge exception to the established rule. All the rich liberals living in their huge estates sucking up more then their fare share of the energy it takes to heat and cool it while only two or three people occupy it. I know. YOu liberals will say conservative do also. Yes, but we don't go around telling others not to. ww

WildWillie,
Protecting the environment and energy conservation are not conservative issues. And so us liberals would not expect a conservative to care about how much energy they waste. What are conservative issues? Is there anything they care about? I am baiting you! Tell me a conservative value and I can find many "prominent" conservatives who do not practice what they preach.

Bananas. Containing three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber,
a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.
Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout.
No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.
But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit.
It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions,
making it a must to add to our daily diet.
CHEERS ^_^
