We live in seriously sad, dare I say tragic, times:
The group bidding to purchase the St. Louis Rams of the National Football League is prepared to do so without the financial backing of Rush Limbaugh, ESPN reported on Wednesday. The conservative American radio talk show host Limbaugh is expected to be dropped as a minority member of the group which also includes New York business tycoon Dave Checketts, who already owns a National Hockey League franchise.
Any sale to the Checketts/Limbaugh group must be approved by three-quarters of the NFL's 32 teams and it has already been met with opposition from players such as Donovan McNabb.
ESPN said according to its sources Checketts now realizes that if he is to be successful he has to drop Limbaugh.
Speaking on his syndicated radio show on Wednesday, Limbaugh still held out hope.
"I am not even thinking of exiting," Limbaugh was reported by ESPN as saying. "I am not a caver.
"Pioneers take arrows. We are pioneers. It is a sad thing but our country 200 years old now needs pioneers all over again, but we do."
Methinks we need more than pioneers. Much more.
I find it incredulous that race-baiters and race-pimps have been able to successfully lead the charge to derail a man's plans to achieve his dreams.
The America we once knew is no more. Or nearly so.

The result is Obama's not even being given a chance, his girls are fair game as is his wife. Now anyone in the opinion/news business will not be able to invest in certain ventures because of ideological oposition. Now football is driven by politics. Have the left no shame? Nevermind. Do you have any idea how many minds, eyes, and/or wallets the NFL controls? The NFL is a gaming device and so I accept your bet.
BTW, regarding your Rush stats; don't confuse listeners with fans. Most cities have two simultaneous talk radio choices, both likely syndicated by right/ center-right entities. Talk radio listeners learn to suck up that fact in lieu of the even more retarded musical format offerings.

Rush might actually walk away from this issue with more money in his pockets. A lot of people attributed poorly sourced quotes to him. It is very hard for public people to win defamation suits, but it is not impossible.
NY Times vs. Sullivan sets the standard for defamation cases of public people with the term
"actual malice" that the statement was made with knowledge of its falsity or with reckless disregard of whether it was true or false.
Many of the quotes attributed to Rush are obviously poorly sourced. The media is not free to quote somebody falsely. They have a duty to verify the quotes they attribute to somebody. Attributing inceniary quotes whose only provenence is some guy named Cobra, starts falling into the realm of reckless disregard for the truth.

No, Limbaugh thinks a NFL football team - which no doubt had a high number of black athletes as is typical these days -- Rush Limbaugh thinks watching them is just like watching a gang fight.
Cause you know all gang fights are full of black men wearing shoulder pads... right?
Seriously - anyone who would come to Limbaugh's defense must be so in love with the GOP that they have blinders on when it comes to racism and bigotry.
You know, you can embrace his politics and still decry his racism - it won't hurt; it'll actually demonstrate some integrity and honesty. Try it, you might like it. You can be a conservative and NOT be a bigot.

"Should we notify the police of your death threat on Limbaugh Vic?"
Well, you should learn how to read and understand English beyond a 3rd grade level, Jim.
But when you fail at that, which you no doubt will, feel free to hop on your bicycle and peddle down to your local police station and tell them all about it.
"And Limbaugh has denied making those statements."
Then link and quote that.

The truth has no meaning to the left. I would much rather be a friend of someone who has been accused of saying "racist" things (with no proof) than accepting a football player who has committed a felony. My vote goes to the underdog (the slandered radio host who has yet to be proven a racist). Why can the criminal football players get a pass, but an honest conservative gets blackballed (oops, there goes the racist words) for no reason.
We need to bring back consciene, morals, class, and integrity. Throw out the libs and bring back the conservatives. Go Sarah!!!

My comments in this thread referencing racist remarks refer to the article and quotes linked by the author of the post above. Nothing more.
Jim, on the other hand, interjected with some nonsense about CNN blah blah blah in an attempt to change the subject away from the quotes linked in the post above.
Jim later admits on another thread that the NFL quotes citing Limbaugh's racism are actually genuine.
It's about time.

I acknowledge that the NFL quotes were accurate, not that they were racist.
The CNN quotes are very much what this was about because they were put front and center and they were run on other networks as well. They are far more explicitly racist and were used to color his real comments as being far worse than they really were. CNN and other media outlets ginned up protest against him based on poorly sourced and biased reportage. They could have run with well sourced material and still had a good story, but they chose instead to run with anonymously sourced, defamatory misquotes that they have had to do a walk back on.
Those quotes were far more incendiary and it was the day after they were put out in the media that this blew up.
Your trying to avoid them is the issue. You still have not backed down off of those.
Those were the quotes I have focused on as being false and I have not made any issue with any others being false. I have even posted responses directly addressing the NFL quotes.
So are you going to stick with the bogus quotes or admit your error?

I only referenced the quotes included in the article written by Rick above, which states:
If you want to change the subject away from those two quotes referenced in the article Rick linked to that's your business - I'm staying on topic, and not addressing any other quotes that are out there. I understand that there have been challenges to other quotes attributed to Limbaugh.
Thank you for admitting that the NFL quotes I've been referring to throughout this thread are valid and accurate.

Donovon McNabb is a media favorite. That is why they are defending him. There have been other black quarterbacks in the NFL over the years. The first one was Warren Moon, who played for the Houston Oilers (Tennessee Titans). The Media did not gush over him, like they are doing with McNabb. The reason is that Moon was a Conservative black man and to them a conservative black man is lower than a snake's belly.

I was raised in Alabama during the 1960's, therefore you know it when you see it. Limbaugh is infested with racist and bigotry; it will destroy him from the "inside out". By his own words he shall destroy himself.
The Republican Party is a disgrace and abomination. There is something putrid about these guys and gals. The Republican Parties of past decades did not make me want to shower after I hear or see them speak on issues. I think it may have started with the Newt Gingrich Crew a few years back.

I was raised in Mississippi in the 1960's and the 70's. In fact, I have lived in the South for most of the 47 years I have been on this planet. I know racism when I see it. The Democrats were racist then and they are racists now. When I hear people talk about how vile Republicans are, I want to ask them why being called "a typical white person" isn't racist? That someone who thinks that I am a racist because I am a white male from the South infuriates me. I may disagree with someone politically but race has nothing to do with it. Correctly reporting special favors someone received, whether it is due to race, gender, creed, religion, lack of religion or connections is speaking truth to power.

Where did you get the idea that the Republicans were the racists in the Alabama and the South in general,in the 1960s? There was not a Republican in power in the South during that time. It was the Democrats that were in power. They are are the ones that promoted the Jim Crow Laws, the poll taxes etc. It was not until Ronald Reagan, that the power of the Southern Democrats was broken and the Republicans started taking over the positions that were held by Bull Conner, George Wallace and other high powered Dems and kicked out a lot of the influence by the KKK.Yet you and your ilk claim that never happened. To that I call bullshit
