"Dave Checketts and I have made a bid to buy the Rams and we are continuing the process."
Rush Limbaugh, saying he is teaming up with St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts in a bid to buy the Rams. The St. Louis Rams are the current owners of the NFL's longest losing streak at 14 games, and just 5-31 since 2007.

I don't think this would turn out well for fans or for the team.
Dan (SPIT!) Snyder is a "lifetime football fan" who bought the Washington Redskins. He's turned a great profit, but organization hasn't fielded a decent football team since the first Bush administration.

Re: #5,
Somehow, I don't think Rush would turn out to be the same type of owner as Dan(SPIT)Snyder. Snyder is a little boy who has tried to buy his way into the Men's club. I think Rush would have the sense enough to let those with the know-how tend to the football operations.
This may turn out to be totally wrong, too.

It will be interesting to see if the league approves of this sale, especially after the whole "Donovan McNabb is overrated, the NFL just wants a black QB to succeed" brouhaha from a few years ago.

Yeah, that's the problem with the NFL. The advertising revenue is so good, it is virtually impossible for an NFL team to lose money, no matter how stinky it is. So there's little incentive for an owner to work hard to improve the franchise.

In a couple ways, Limbaugh seems like he'd be ideal as a major franchise owner. He certainly has the outsized personality a lot of them bring to the job.
The question, I think, is whether he would be smart enough to hire a good general manager and a good head coach and then let them actually run the team.
An addendum on this:

I don't know if you're in the DC area, but there's an interesting thing going on right now. After around a decade of subpar performance from the Skins (not to mention sleazy ticket sales practices documented in the Post), fans are losing patience with Dan (SPIT!) Snyder. If they continue to lose patience, team revenues will go down. They won't nosedive, but they will go down.
We saw something similar start to brew at the end of the Spurrier years, but Dan (SPIT!) Snyder stemmed it by hiring St. Joe Gibbs to coach the team. I don't think he can pull that rabbit out of his hat again.

Rush is one of many bidding for the RAMS but from a PR perspective, Rush getting them wouldn't be a bad deal. For one thing the RAMS would get a good deal a Buzz resulting in higher rating and tickets sale therefore an investment success.
They are a bottom team now even though they have promise. If they improve under Rush's ownership which I big turnarounds in the NFL are almost common, he a genius. If they don't, yeah well they were a bottom team anyway and he made money from them. Yes it a bunch of PR spin but that is sports for you. Not that I'm saying a good owner can't make a difference but like a good quarterback or running back, they often are overstated.

Heck, if it's got Checkett's name attached to it.. I'd wager it's a GOOD gamble.. He's saved the Blues from a financial ruin of a franchise back to at least a middle of the pack team.
I'm dying in laughter at Rams fans who will "no longer support this team if Rush is a partial owner".. Hey guys, you looked in the EJ Dome lately? You ain't been supporting them as is.
(2 blackouts last season, and the other 6 were only because companies picked up the slack at the last minute).

$950 Mil+ is not my idea of cheap and for perennial stinkers its way overpriced.
Then again, it's his cash and who knows, if they replace the entire staff and player lineup what do they have to loose? It can't get any worse...
