Don Imus must be kicking himself. Instead of meeting personally with the entire Rutgers women's basketball team and begging forgiveness for calling them nappy headed hoes, he should have just apologized in his studio in front of a sympathetic audience. David Letterman showed him how it's done when the parties offended (white women and minors) are not card carrying members of a privileged and politically protected group:
I told a bad joke. I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception. And since it was a joke I told, I feel that I need to do the right thing here and apologize for having told that joke. It's not your fault that it was misunderstood, it's my fault. That it was misunderstood." (audience applauds) "Thank you. So I would like to apologize, especially to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the Governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke. I'm sorry about it and I'll try to do better in the future. Thank you very much." (audience applause)
Notice the clever deflection? That the joke was misunderstood? And the gratuitous "thank you" for the audience's applause? This is what substitutes for humility in the reeking world that Liberal leftwing celebrity has become. Nevermind that Imus' indescretion was the result of an off the cuff remark while Letterman's was a well rehearsed line; both incidents were inexcusable but Imus' was exceptional because Barrak Obama wanted him fired. And Eric Holder thinks we are a nation of cowards when it comes to a discussion on race.

Letterman, your a dumb fuck. But then so is your 'hip, creative' staff. You want to tell "jokes" about politicians, go ahead. LEAVE THEIR FAMILIES OUT OF IT! And by the way, you jive ass jerk, "rape" isn't funny. Maybe you need to have a run-in with a NY cop and his billy club.

Well, Letterman has his own brand of crowd control built into his gags. There's always more than one plan of action when hypocritically using politics to further ratings. He really meant what he said about Palin, but in case people figure out how underhanded it was, the vaguely worded apology and flashing applause signs are cued and ready.

The countdown to Palin's appearance on David Letterman can begin now because it's The Most Anticipated Television Event in History, ever.

Mr. 914:
For the sake of discussion I'll assume that you're asking:
"Why would Sarah Palin do anything to lessen David Letterman's feelings of- or appearance of- guilt?"
I don't know. Maybe she's just a nice person. It would show what a "big" person she is. We'll look back on it and marvel how her appearance on David Letterman directly led to her victory in the 2012 presidential election. Meet President Sarah Palin!
Or not.

Ha ha ha,
Her potential election victory in 2012 are tied to Letterman groveling sweet nothings at Her bequest? And if She does not appear that means She has no chance?
Ha ha ha... Burrok is upping Her chances more and more everyday with His absolute ineptness at doing one thing right for this Country. Ha ha ha

I wouldn't mind seeing Palin go on Lettermans show. Not if she dispensed with her typical class and grace and instead ripped him a new one for being so crass, classless and conwardly.
