Reading this is heartbreaking. I can't imagine what it must be like to see the person you love most in the world slowly waste away and die. Farah and Ryan O'Neal's relationship was complicated to say the least, but he remains devoted to the very end.
"The hair is gone. Her famous hair. I have it at home. She didn't care. I rub her head. It's kind of fun, actually, this great, tiny little head. How she carried all that hair I'll never know. She doesn't have a vanity about it."
I forgot to give a hat tip to Ann Althouse.

I was reading about this yesterday, and you're right, it IS heartbreaking, to say the least. Too soon she'll be a real angel.

Yes, I was reading about this, too. Ryan O'Neal said he wouldn't know this world without her, which shows how much they deeply affected and loved each other. I love the quoted you put up there as an example of how really close and devoted they are. When her pain is gone and she is in God's arms, I hope Ryan will have a peace about it.

This sucks on all levels. I hope her kid gets straightened out after this, I wouldn't bet on it though.

She fought a horrible disease for quite a while. Peace and growth to her and her family in her final days and hours here.

That picture of her in the red swimsuit was plastered on so many t-shirts and posters that I believe it's an American icon by now. I so hate that she has had to suffer so; and I wish her as much comfort as possible in her last days. Cancer is such a cruel disease.
