I don't think I've ever watched a beauty pageant before, but, after this one, I may have to give it a try.
From dailymail.co.uk
You dumb bitch!' Miss USA beauty pageant turns ugly as Perez Hilton insults Miss California over gay marriage slurIt was the night a beauty contestant turned ugly.
When Miss California was asked her opinion on same-sex marriages by an openly gay judge she could have chosen a diplomatic reply.
Instead, 21-year-old Carrie Prejean answered with honesty.
But in saying marriage should be between a man and a woman, it was a reply that may have cost her the Miss USA crown and led to her being called a 'dumb bitch'.
Prejean, a blonde student, was one of the favourites to win the Miss USA title at the pageant held on Sunday at the Planet Hollywood hotel and casino in Las Vegas and shown live on TV.
Having negotiated earlier rounds of modelling in a swimsuit and evening gown, she was down to the final 15 and had to answer a single question from one of the panel of five judges.
Prejean picked celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, who is openly gay and calls himself 'queen of all media'.
Hilton asked her: 'Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalise same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit. Why or why not?'
Prejean paused for a moment before replying: 'Well, I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage.'
She continued: 'And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.
'No offence to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be - between a man and a woman. Thank you very much."
He went on to describe Prejean as having 'half a brain' and said he would have stormed onto the stage and ripped off her tiara if she had won.
There was speculation that the reply had cost her the Miss USA crown, as she was named runner-up with Miss North Carolina, Kristen Dalton, winning the title.
So, this snobby, openly gay "judge" asks a loaded question, and gets an answer which he doesn't appreciate.
Too damn bad.
And good for her.
She could have said something completely dishonest just to get closer to winning the competition, but she stood by her beliefs, and it possibly cost her the contest.
Not only did it play a role in the outcome of the judgement, but she was then subjected to verbal assaults from this buffoon, being called a "dumb bitch" and told she has "half a brain".
'Cause God forbid someone holds true to their beliefs instead of playing the PC card.
If this jackass wasn't prepared for an answer he may not have liked, he shouldn't have asked such a loaded question.
And of course the paper calls her answer a "gay marriage slur", notes that she is blonde, and proclaims that she "turned ugly".
Personally, gay marriage is not nessecarily an issue that would sway me one way or the other determining who I would vote for.
However, I have always been of the belief that just because we have the ability to reason, does not mean we have to reason everything into acceptance.
This Perez Hilton dope, by his very actions, possibly helped to dash a dream of this young women, by basing his decision on one issue.
He threw a hissy-fit, and she stood up for what she believes in.
Looks like she won after all.

Perez is awesome. How many hits does that guy's blog get every day? 1,000,000?
She didn't win, by the way. She came in second. And anyway, you know what's better that winning the Miss America contest? Not being a superficial idiot.

The bigotry of Perez Hilton is utterly staggering.
Her thoughtful response showed no malice to anyone...it just explained her particular belief ("No offence to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised")
HIS response to that? He calls her a "dumb bitch" with "half a brain" and says he "would have stormed onto the stage and ripped off her tiara if she had won"
Is the Gay Communkty PROUD of this half-brained but totally bigoted moron?

I'm am very proud of Miss Prejean for having the decency to answer honestly and in line with her convictions. She, and Katrina Pierson, one of the speakers at the Dallas Tea Party, make me proud to be AMERICAN and a WOMAN! Miss Prejean still wins in my opinion, too. Both she and Miss Pierson embody a powerful trifecta of beauty, brains, and principles. Thank you, ladies!

She is winner because she Talked Truth to Power
The only issue with her answer was, I think she meant to say state instead of country.
People do have different views and a right to express them. Marriage has been defined in our culture as between man and woman of legal age. We do not allow for marriage between two 13 year olds or between multiple partners. Each state can make a determination of what they want to allow as far as age. Some states have voted and said same sex marriage is ok, others have rejected. We are all entitled to our own beliefs. If and when enough states feel that same sex marriage is right they can amend the Constitution, until then it is state where the people get to decide.
You also must realize that some may say civil unions are ok but term marriage may be reserved for a male female relationship.

"If I can find you someone saying they believe interracial marrigae is wrong but just "their beleifs" are you going to applaud them for standing their ground as well?"
I'm not Shawn, but I'll answer. Yes, I'll applaud them for standing their ground. I may not agree with their answer but since that person is stating their belief there is nothing wrong with it. Just like I don't agree with gay "marriage" but I don't call that person a "cunt", say they have half a brain, nor do I say I would have been violent toward that person if X happens.
There is nothing in our laws that say that interracial marriage is wrong or illegal. If that person doesn't agree with it, so what? When that person is saying it is just "their beliefs he/she is indicating the awareness that not everyone agrees.
Why is it with you lefties a person is only able to openly have an opinion on something if they agree with the lefty group think?
Any time someone disagrees with the lefties they are given the "hate" label. All I see however is the hate those on the left express whenever someone expresses a political or moral opinion they disagree with.
In most states gay marriage is not allowed. And there is nothing wrong for someone to say that they don't agree with gay marriage.

The only reason hilton asked that question was to cause a scene. It's what he does best. Too bad she didn't win. She's refreshingly honest, not afraid to say what she thinks. He needs to remember he asked the question, she didn't just take to the stage and throw that sentiment out there. I'd have liked to see what happened if he had try to snatch the crown off her head. Hopefully he'd have been arrested and charged with assault.

As for Adorable Bigot Barbie, I would rather be a Mexican in Arpaio than a beauty pageant construct. These people are trained by their parents to be smiley, stupid, and subservient. Pageants are emblematic of everything that is wrong with traditional gender roles. I feel only pity for people with such low self-respect.
And opposition to same-sex marriage will eventually be on par with opposition to mixed-race marriage, so the window for "conservatives" who support "traditional marriage" to get on the right side of history is closing fast. If I were you I wouldn't want my grand kids to think that I am (or was) an ignorant, prejudiced know-nothing.

But nor does she get to follow the execrable "Mister" Mario Armando Lavandeira into the terminal degradation, decay, degeneration and early death that are the only physical certainties of his depraved "life-style" -- and that already own what passes for his "mind."
No doubt about which of them has already won the Game of Life!
