Oh, those crazy Europeans..
Not content with controlling every aspect of your life, a German lawmaker has come up with a novel solution to the problem of illegal, er, dumping.
From Breitbart.com:
German MP wants DNA testing on dog poo
A German lawmaker proposed on Monday a novel and high-tech way of dealing with the menace of dog poo on the streets: DNA testing to identify the canine culprit and fine its owner.Peter Stein, a conservative politician in eastern Germany, told AFP that under his proposal, officials would test the excrement and then match it up to the offending dog using a DNA database of all pooches.
German dog owners are fined 30-40 euros (40-50 dollars) if they fail to clean up after their pets, but very few are caught, with only four fines given out in Stein's hometown of Rostock -- human population 200,000 -- last year.
"Just saying 'it wasn't my dog' will not wash any more," Stein said.
Is this idiot serious? Aside from just how insane this idea is, the expense of identifying DNA and matching it to the owner of the poo is enough to laugh this idea off the political stage. We know, however, nothing is impossible in the realm of European liberalism.
The world economy is in a shambles. Riots abound. Iran and North Korea may soon have a nuke. And this is what the liberal loons in Europe are devoting their resources toward?
And don't be swayed by the fact that the article proclaims Peter Stein to be "a conservative politician". Being conservative in Europe is like being called left of center here in the States.
Just wait. This will be coming to a town near you.

What's the problem?
You take a sample, put it in a machine, and in 10 seconds you get a perfect DNA match the to offending pooch.
That's all there is too, it. You'd know that if you watched CSI.

I think you're too optimistic. Never mind the puppies. Acorn will begin taking DNA samples and matching them to ballots hand marked for a republican candidate. Then will come the knock on the door.

1. Nearly every DNA capable lab in the U.S. is swamped and it takes weeks, if not months to get results back. You have proof the EU is any better?
2. How do you get a "match" without first testing every pooch known to exist, or will exist in Germany?

Please tell us, Mr Mallow, about your extensive European travels, when you learned all about "the realm of European liberalism."
In your studies of European politics, how did you come to the conclusion that "being conservative in Europe is like being called left of center in the United States?"
Seriously, Mr Mallow, have you ever BEEN to Europe?

Snark aside, why travel? Examples in the media are plentiful. I't doesn't take too much effort to visit Le Monde, Deusche Welle and any number of other EU based sites not to mention the coverage the EU gets in stateside papers.

I'm curious if the problem is dog poo or human waste? Europe has restrooms available to the public. However, they are not free. There is a nominal fee. When you gotta go, you gotta go!!

Holy Crap!! Sorry couldn't help myself.
As to living/traveling in Europe, I lived there for nearly 5 years...Holy crap is correct over and over. Living across from a train station, I witnessed so many just whip it out and pee just as they walked off the train ramp...so this is crazy.
I correct myself, as the garbage was sorted and resorted and sifted and then we were in trouble if our green glass bin had a clear glass jar...regulate, control, regulate some more!
Thanks but I love the life we have enjoyed here in the states. Having the opportunity to to own a home and land is possible for everyone here.
So once again Holy crap- we are on this nasty path in the states and if we don't hurry and stop the Obama train we will crash, as he is a liberal European elitist loving their fantasy life more than his life he was afforded in this incredible nation. I say he head over there and become king of the EU.

I spent a few years in Stuttgart and traveled extensively through the EU. They are much more fastidious about this than other European nations. The Germans are particularly peeved that there has been a degradation of the neatness and orderliness of their society since the seventies, and dog poo is no exception. Doggy bags and disposal bins are commonly placed in public areas, and even in the wooded paths folks are expected to "curb" their beasts and pick up after them. This proposal is indeed a little over the top, but you need to take it in context. I would guess that indeed they would be talking about getting a DNA profile on all registered pets, and running samples on errant poo.
As far as public urination, you have to remember the volumes of beer that the Germans consume. The public bathrooms tend to be manned by an individual who keeps them clean, and you tip them before you leave. Its well worth the tip to have a nie and clean bathroom. I would suspect that Jennifer, if referring to Germany, was in an urban setting where other anti-social behavior is also rampant.
