Fran Drescher for the US Senate from New York? From the Malibu Times-
I can just hear it now. Fran does a filibuster. The carnage afterwards might be compared to the end of Tom Clancy's book, 'Debt of Honor.'
While a media frenzy has erupted over the Senate's refusal to seat the governor of Chicago's appointment, Roland Burris, and Minnesota's Al Franken's confirmation is being held up by a challenge from his Republican opponent, actress Fran Drescher has used the media to test the waters for a U.S. Senate run representing New York. It is believed that Caroline Kennedy is the leading contender for Hillary Rodham Clinton's seat.Recent television and magazine interviews have created much speculation over Drescher's plans to run for the Senate seat. However, Drescher, who owns a home in Malibu, said Tuesday in an interview with The Malibu Times the publicity is a way of putting her "toe in the water" should she choose to run in 2010.
"I've been told by very high level U.S. senators that I should run for the Senate, and that I'd be great in the senate," Drescher said. "And high level Democratic donors have encouraged me. So I thought OK, I'll throw my hat in the ring and see where it lands."

Couldn't be much worse than the current crop of clowns... and it might be better. As I recall, her character usually DID salvage a decent result out out the messes others created...

"governor of Chicago" -- maybe that's a better title for Blagojevic than "Governor of Illinois".

My God. That would be enough to turn me Republican.

Hoo boy, I didn't think anybody had a worse voice than Hillary Clinton, but I had forgotten about Fran Drescher.
That laugh. (shudder)

Fran has the best credentials of any Democratic candidate without a uterus to oppose Caroline Kennedy. And she has a great Queens accent. In 2012 she would then be perfectly poised to challenge the Governor of Alaska for the Presidency. Wouldn't that be a show?!? A snowbird from Miami/Queens vs the midwest/Alaska transplant. What a great way to stimulate the fashion business, comedy shows and speech coaches everywhere!

Wow and here I though Al and Caroline was already scraping the bottom of the barrel. Drescher? I mean really? Seriously? You must be joking. That voice is not electable, not even in NY, fingernails on a chalkboard.

No actors should EVER run for higher office! That's just ridiculous.
The only thing that could make this more ridiculous, would be if Fran Drescher came from California and had acted in a lot of B movies.
