A Nebraska woman was arrested Monday for shoplifting a keychain from The Empire Mall after she faked birth pains, police spokesman Sam Clemens said.AP reports that she will have to pay for the hospital stay and ambulance ride. As she should.When officers arrived at the mall shortly after 2 p.m., Erica Kaye McNally, 35, had been caught shoplifting and began to complain of birth pains, Clemens said. The Lincoln, Neb., woman was taken to a hospital where it then was discovered she was not pregnant, he said.
A search of McNally's purse netted several loose prescription pills, Clemens said.
McNally was charged with shoplifting and possession of a controlled substance.
Erica Kaye McNally couldn't fake her way out of a shoplifting charge or being today's Knucklehead of the Day.

Oh come on, surely you've found yourself in a situation where a small, um, "misdirection" seems to be the best tactic to get out of it, and then you have to add another one, and one after that, and the next thing you know the only way out you can see is to fake labor pains?
Then later on you ask yourself where it all started to unravel? Because they all seemed like good ideas at the time.
