Readers may recall that every so often I like to get a sense of how they rate the Presidents of the United States. This go-round, I am doing something a little different; I randomized the list and then cut them into sets of three. Each day I will ask you about two sets, in each set rank the presidents 1-2-3 within that set. Here are today's sets:
Set Seven
Woodrow Wilson
John Kennedy
James Garfield
Set Eight
Millard Fillmore
William Clinton
John Quincy Adams

Set 7
Kennedy (though most of his actual good was rhetorical, and he likely would have ranked lower if he'd served longer)
Wilson
Garfield (not enough time to have done good or harm)
Set 8
Fillmore
Clinton (proof that a bad person can be a reasonably good president)
Adams

I just have to ask why so many people think Fillmore was so terrible. The Compromise of 1850, which Fillmore rescued from its backers' exhaustion, postponed the Civil War by years. Had Buchanan been anything close to Fillmore, we might have avoided the Civil War even longer - perhaps long enough to find a way out that didn't involve the Civil War. (I say "so terrible" because Adams was fundamentally a pretty ineffective president, so for Fillmore to be worse would imply him doing something actively bad for the country.)

WW - this assclown gets a whole chapter in Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism"! If you haven't read it, it's enough to point out that Mussolini and Hitler thought WW was on the right track.
Set Eight
Millard Fillmore

This is a tough one. I want to put WC 3rd but I don't know much on the other 2. I'll put all 3 in a tie for 2nd place.
