Seems to me these stories always take between 24 and 48 hours to get the facts washed out of the mix.

lamedusa - i am singling out olberman because both marc and sahmmy dropped his name, and i myself am only dropping the coulter name as the right-wingnut example. their point was that coulter is just as crazy stupid as the more extreme mouthpieces of the left. so the point of how olberman is a crackpot isnt mine to make, and im simply asking for validation of the point that the left has its own coulters, if anyone cares to make the case (which nobody here has).

Larry, which metric(s) will you use to monitor a potential decline in standard of living? If overall GDP shrinks (as it certainly will--it's a global recession), that might indicate to you that Obama's policies are failing; however, more important measures include literacy and infant mortality. I expect these to improve under Obama's administration, though I don't expect the 25% of the population who currently support George W. Bush to give a shit one way or another because their 401Ks are going to continue to get pounded and they can only view things through a lens of crass selfishness.

I repeat: literacy, and infant mortality. Keep an eye on them, they will improve as a reflection of Obama's commitment to strong social programs, and your country will weather the financial nightmare into which we are all headed.
