From ZombieTime, a critical look at William Ayers' forgotten communist manifesto: Prairie Fire. Sadly, too few Americans may have the attention span to digest that put forth here. The essay examines Ayers' work, and his views expressed within debunk many media myths, such as the assertion that he was simply protesting against the Vietnam War when he orchestrated bombings through the Weather Underground.
- Ayers was not simply protesting "against" the Vietnam War. Firstly, he wasn't against war in principle, he was agitating for the victory of the communist forces in Vietnam. In other words: He wasn't against the war, he was against our side in the war. This is spelled out in great detail in Prairie Fire. Secondly, and more significantly, the Vietnam War was only one of many issues cited by the Weather Undergound as the justifications for their violent acts. As you will see below, in various quotes from Prairie Fire and in their own list of their violent actions (and in additional impartial documentary links), Ayers and the Weather Underground enumerated dozens of different grievances as the rationales for their bombings -- their overarching goal being to inspire a violent mass uprising against the United States government in order to establish a communist "dictatorship of the proletariat," in Ayers' own words.
- Ayers and his co-authors freely brag about their bombings and other violent and illegal acts, and even provide a detailed list, most likely typed up by Ayers himself, of the crimes they had committed up to that point. Ayers' list, scanned directly from Prairie Fire, is shown below. He may have escaped conviction due to a legal technicality (the prosecutors failed to get a warrant during some of their surveillance of the Weather Underground), but this in no way means that Ayers was factually innocent of the crimes. As has been widely reported, after the case against him was dropped, Ayers described himself as "guilty as hell, free as a bird."
- Just because Ayers tries to appear respectable now doesn't mean that he wasn't a violent revolutionary in the past. In fact, as the text of Prairie Fire shows, Ayers was one of the most extreme extremists in American political history. And as the links given as the end of this essay will prove, Ayers is just as politically radical now as he was back then. He has never renounced the political views he professed in the 1960s and 1970s. The only difference is that now he no longer commits violence to achieve his goals. After his stint as the leader of the Weather Underground, he shifted to a different tactic: to spread his ideology under the aegis of academia. But the goal remains the same: to turn America into a communist nation. Ayers' contemporary writings contain many of the same ideas (and even the same phrases) found in Prairie Fire, just toned down to make them more palatable in polite society.
It is a long essay, but a necessary read.

Bill Ayers is who he... (Below threshold)1. Posted by Larry | October 23, 2008 12:29 PM | Score: 9 (9 votes cast)
Bill Ayers is who he is. Among other things, he is the son of Thomas Ayers, Chairman and CEO of ConEd both during the days of Ayers' Weather Underground and for the time when Bill Ayers was rehabilitated back into "Polite" society. Thomas Ayers arranged for Bill Ayers wife to get a job at Northwestern teaching Law even though she has been denied a license to practice and if anyone thinks that William Ayers got the his job at UofC on merit, I have a bridge to seel you in NYC.
Why doesn't someone take this and run with it, it is all about Daddy's money. Thomas Ayers was the Godfather of Illinois politics, both white and black. He funded community organizing and black activitism. And the blacks he put in power rolled over when ConEd wanted a rate increase. It is all in the record, but it takes time and energy to dig it out.
Thomas Ayers was on the Board of the Tribune. Why, without Thomas Ayers' support, would Daley roll over and give up on the Annenberg Challenge and support Bill Ayers' application instead of his own?
Even John Kasse, Chicago Reporter who likes to write exposes, hasn't touched Thomas Ayers, even though the elder Ayers died last year?
Why is Bill Ayers lauded within educational circles? It has to do with ideology. It also has to do with money; grants, awards and the like.
Daddy's money.

When McCain appeared on Liddy`s show, McCain was effusive with praise for his host, "Gordon, congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation (the USA) great." Could you imagine Obama saying the same thing about Ayres a distinguished professor of education at the Univ. of Chicago. He would be pilloried but not McCain.

I can understand frustration with the perceived failures of the Bush administration.
I cannot understand how even mindless sheep who have any sense of self-preservation could possibly support Obama... A man who practically declared his socialistic propensities to an American citizen who had the temerity to ask The One a simple question in a public forum.
If you are devoid of logical thought and have never cracked a history book, perhaps socialism appeals to you... Wow, everyone is "taken care of" and gets a piece of the pie... whether they're willing to work or not.
If you support Barrack Obama because he is black, you are a racist.
If you support Barrack Obama because he represents "change", you are simple.
If you support Barrack Obama because you believe in socialism, you are an idiot.
Lefturds, without using the words "hope" or "change", tell me why you support this threat to our nation. Which specific policies do you support... What are the key issues that overide Obama's acquaintances with those who admittedly want to destroy America, think that God should damn America, or are proud of America for the first time in 40 some-odd years?
I don't expect a specific answer, as I have come to believe that The One's followers are all mindless zombies, devoid of logical thought or rational.

Obama Sat in a radical church for 20 years that he said he went to twice a month but didn't know was radical. Oprah left after a couple years to preserve her interests. There is also a controversy as to Larry Sinclair's claims of gay sex, drugs and murder regarding Obama.
Obama first claimed that William Ayers was just a guy in his neighborhood until greater connections surfaced such as him serving on the woods fund board with Ayers, administering grant money at $50,000 a pop that Ayers had gotten from the Annenburg project. Obama wrote a positive blurb on an Ayers book. Michelle Obama asked Ayers to speak at an event. Ayers wife Bernadine Dohrn bought the property next to Obama's for full price then sold a piece of that property for $100,000 to Obama to extend his property rendering the other part of her property unbuildable on. At the time she was only making $38,000 a year. Obama launched his political career at a party in Ayers home.
Obama got his house at $300,000 under value in a deal from political fixer and slum lord Tony Rezko, and at a price below the normal interest rate.
Obama was close friends with radical PLO anti-semite Rashid Khalidi. They had dinners at his house, Obama's kids had been babysat by them. Obama attended a dinner in celebration of Khalidi with Ayers and Dohrn in attendance that include anti-semitic speech.
Obama has sealed his college records from inspection. You would think someone would be proud of those accomplishments. Percy Sutton says he was asked by his radical ex-black panther friend to write a letter to get Obama into Harvard.
Obama claimed he was never a Muslim but a report done by inside edition clearly shows his school record in Indonesia listing him as Muslim.
Obama paid an affiliate of the radical group ACORN $800,000 to get the vote out for him. Obama once worked for ACORN and helped them to pass motor voter legislation in Chicago. Obama first claimed he never had any association with ACORN.
Obama is undergoing recent lawsuits asking that he provide his original birth certificate for proof of citizenship verification. He refuses to do so casting doubt on his legitimacy to be president.
Obama became senator by default since the other opponents dropped out for various reasons.
Obama claimed in 2004 that he would not run for president in this election because he was not qualified. His VP choice Joe Biden said "we don't have time for on the job training" about him. Bill Clinton says Obama called to ask what he should do about the economy after the wall street crisis. Obama insulted our military by saying they were flying around bombing villages and killing civilians. Obama told a country that has nukes (Pakistan) that he would go in to get Bin Laden if they did not get him. Obama called Iran no threat, just a little country. Afghanistan is a little country that caused big problems. Obama's VP pick said Obama would be tested in some planned terrorist attack in his first 6 months in office. Obama stopped to knock on doors in a neighborhood and Joe the Plumber asked a question that got the infamous Obama reply about spreading the wealth around. Because Obama's answer to that question did not look good for him, Joe then had his personal records accessed, his garbage gone through and was subjected to personal attacks.
With all the lies, hiding of information and dubious associations why would anyone want to put this guy in charge of the country?
