There will be no Knucklehead award given out tomorrow, 9-11. Today's winner however is connected to that tragic day.
Today's winner is Milt Goldstein. He gets the award for the following.
DELRAY BEACH -- Amateur photographer Milt Goldstein had three goals in mind when he agreed to exhibit his photos of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks at the Delray Beach Public Library this month.Goldstein's 'work' was supposed to be presented today. He wanted to use the publicity to advocate for organ donation. He wanted to make a few extra bucks. And, Goldstein said, he wanted to make sure people didn't "forget what happened."
Instead, it accomplished just one thing - embarrassment.
The 71-year-old Delray Beach resident's poignant exhibit, titled I Was There, included 15 photos of New York signed by Goldstein, framed and on sale, with prices ranging from $200 to $350.
But The Palm Beach Post has found that many of those photos were replicated from other sources, including the Associated Press, the military and other government agencies.
Goldstein confessed to the ruse Thursday after a reporter confronted him with evidence of the photos' true origins.
"I'm guilty - that's all I can say," Goldstein said. "I'm embarrassed."
He was scheduled to present his work to library patrons on the seventh anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Click here if you want to see what Goldstein was claiming as his own work.
Profiting from work not his own and a horrible tragedy. That is all it takes for me to name Milt Goldstein today's Knucklehead of the Day.

I agree that what he did was wrong, and he admits it too. I do feel bad for the guy, though--his wife really is seriously ill and I think he was just trying to get over to help take care of her. It's just sad.

All very sad - I do know that he took a great many images during his time in NYC - and yes he was there on that fateful day - I can only think that over the years that the images that he took and the ones that he accired while in NYC gust got mixed up and who of us has memories that are not really our own but those of the people that have related them... are photo any different? Just very sad.
