The Obama campaign, unable to find anything in Governor Palin's speech that would help their case, decided instead to claim that she just represented another George Bush. Well, that reminded me that it is just about time again to check on the President's approval here. As usual, please stick to yes or no for the key questions. For brevity and clarity (yes I know, but I get to wield a hammer here), I may choose to remove extraneous comments, especially any which try to disrupt the thread or attack people.
1. Overall, in your opinion has President Bush done a good job, yes or no?
2. In your opinion, is President Bush doing a good job right now, yes or no?
3. If you had to choose between one of the three tickets, which one would get your vote?
[ ] Obama - Biden
[ ] McCain - Palin
[ ] Bush - Cheney
Thanks!

1. Overall, in your opinion has President Bush done a good job, yes or no?
Yes. I believe President Bush is unfairly maligned. I don't think anyone would have handled Iraq any better than he has. That said, I feel he was too much of a spendthrift. He had to hand money out to too many Congressmen in order to get them to do the right thing on Iraq, and that hurt the economy. I believe he is a good man, which I haven't been able to say about many Presidents.
2. In your opinion, is President Bush doing a good job right now, yes or no?
No. I think he's been crippled by public reaction on Iraq and the weakening economy. But it's a qualified No.

If only Tony Snow had been his Communications Director from the beginning!)
2. Yes: Given the hostile attitude toward Bush in the media, keeping a low profile now is a sensible course of action.
3. McCain - Palin. Whether Bush and Cheney would somehow be better in the abstract is moot at this point -- their undeserved bad reputation fostered by the media would make them ineffective in governing for the 2009-2013 term.
