If you are a country music fan and a McCain supporter go to John Rich.com and get your free download of the song Rich wrote for the McCain campaign, Raisin' McCain. Rich has already done some appearances for the campaign and will be with the Senator on Saturday, as well as performing at the upcoming Republican National Convention. [For those unfamiliar with country music, many will know John Rich as the "Rich" in Big & Rich. For Dancing With the Stars fans, he co-wrote and sang Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy.]

OK, I thought the song and the video were incredibly corny. But corny doesn't even begin to describe this Obama music video. Warning: you're going to be tempted to gouge your eyes out after a couple minutes.

"Raising McCain?" WTF? I'm sorry that was pretty fucking corny. Especially when he said "yellow boys".
Are the "yellow boys" John McCain's "Gooks"? Boy, let's get this right up on John's website. Shit, lets have him get the band to play the song live on Leno.

Yay, country music! Rally the base! Indeed, rally the basest of all bases.
Say, you guys should also post one of Daddy Yankee's videos. He's like McCain's biggest fan evar!!!

No, they suck too because they sing about wide open spaces and other boring shit that happens in the middle of nowhere. Do I have to like an artist because I share their distaste for comically unpopular world leaders?

Music is really one of those personal preference issues. One sounds fairly ignorant and bigoted if one makes a judgment on a group of people based on their musical tastes - whether it's Hip-Hop, C&W, or Stompin' Tom Connors.
Or, it could be that one just sounds like, er, himself.

Stompin' Tom?! The only man in Prince Edward Island's Musical Hall of Fame?! (Okay, I made that up, but he would be if they had one.)
I know, I know, I'm just being an asshole. But seriously, I have no more reason to like the Dixie Chicks than I do Alan Jackson. The whole aesthetic puzzles me.

I was commenting more on this ignorant comment: "Indeed, rally the basest of all bases."
I'm trying to imagine your indignation had I been the one to make the statement, but the topic of discussion was, I dunno, rap. You can see why we have trouble taking your passion on some issues seriously when it's less than consistent in its application.

Yeah, that was a pretty shitty thing to say. I guess I'd prefer to hang out in a bar full of country western fans than opera afficionados any day.
In fact, three cheers for country music:

You don't have to know the difference between an Amarone and a Barolo to know the difference between someone making a point and someone needling other people for the sake of being an asshole--point taken, Clay.
I maintain, however, that I would like to see McCain standing awkwardly on stage while Daddy Yankee beseeched the audience to give him their "gasolina".

Personally, I've never liked country music, NASCAR racing, and that whole southern red state culture that goes along with them.
It's the liberals who have the cooler music. There, I said it.
