The Obama campaign and its surrogates in the mainstream media are not happy with McCain's ad in which he compares Barack Obama's celebrity to that of Paris Hilton's and Britney Spears'. I guess he thinks being compared to two pop tarts isn't good for his presidential image. However, Senator Obama set the precedent himself more than 3 years ago.

Newsbusters writes today that Senator Obama compared himself to Paris Hilton back on February 24, 2005. From the Washington Post:

There's nothing exotic or complicated about how phenoms are made in Washington, and, more to the point, how they are broken.

"Andy Warhol said we all get our 15 minutes of fame," says Barack Obama. "I've already had an hour and a half. I mean, I'm so overexposed, I'm making Paris Hilton look like a recluse."

So, Obama has no problem comparing himself to pop tart Paris Hilton if he thinks it will help his image. But if the comparison detracts from his presidential image by highlighting his enormous celebrity, suddenly it's childish and nasty.

You, know, production for the sequel to The Dark Knight may be underway soon, and Warner Brothers is already floating names of actors that may play the parts. For example, Johnny Depp may play The Riddler and Phillip Seymour Hoffman might be The Penguin. Barack Obama would be perfect to reprise the role of Two Face, don't you think?
