For the first time, my health insurance is offering a health-club membership subsidy. And I thought it might be a good idea to get myself at least marginally closer to being in shape, so I looked into it.
It turns out that I can get between a 25% and 60% discount on my membership, thanks to my employer. So I went online and looked for health clubs in my area that I could join.
It turns out there are 12 participating health clubs within 30 miles of my home.
One is called "Ladies Workout Express."
The other 11 are all "Curves" franchises.
CURSE my overwhelming masculinity and unmistakable alpha-maleness...

If the gym has no manager on duty it may be a hellhole like the chain I belong to here in California.

I'm with Matt - it's a blatant case of discrimination. Sue everybody - the "health clubs," insurance company, your employer, the State.

Sue George Bush. I bet it has something to do with Hurricane Katrina and the incident with Bull Connor and the hose. It's clearly Bush's fault. Global warming, 9/11 was in inside job.

The market has spoken: women are pretty, and intend to stay that way.
Have you considered running naked through the woods, chasing a deer with a knife in your teeth? That would be a bad-ass workout...

I'd find a co-ed gym that you want to go to, get their info, (and maybe talk to one of the ladies places to see how they work out the deal with the insurance), and then write a nice letter to your insurance company and employer asking to get the co-ed gym added. Remember to say how you're sure the exclusion of a gym that men can attend was an oversight they'd want to correct.
And it probably was an oversight. Women get this stuff because a high enough percentage of us are busy-bodies and bother to ask for it.

Can you get a discount for buying gym equipment and a personal trainer? Or maybe just a trainer with the resources around you. Running around the block, push ups and free weights, y'know...

Sounds the same as mine (AETNA). There is one exception, a Gold's Gym roughly an hour away. Not quite worth it IMO.
