Oh, yeah. Peace dividend and all that - saw about half the aircraft maintenance squadron I was in 'surplused' and told they needed to find positions at other Air Force Reserve organizations in the big drawdown. For some folks, that'd involve travelling over 500 miles, with no reimbursement for their travel expenses. (You didn't get per diem or mileage for UTA weekends.) It was either that, or get out of the AF Reserve altogether.
Lot of folks who'd been career up to that time bailed.
Yeah, I remember the Clintons. All too well.
