Peter F.:
In 1978 I was just entering 7th grade, and all my friends or kids I knew loved Zep, AC/DC, Foghat, Ozzy, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc. And while I loved AC/DC (and still do), the others, including Zep, didn't do much for me. It wasn't until 8th grade that a friend played this album that I went "whoa, now that I like"--even though I could barely understand the lyrics (like Zep).

Last Big indoor rock concert I went to, MSG, 1970. Smoke way too thick to necessitate lighting up. My ears stopped ringing somewhere on the subway ride backup to the Port Authority to take the train/bus home. Very Great Performance live.

I know this is late-saw it this morning but couldn't comment at work. Is the concert being broadcast live-anywhere in the U.S.?
Ok, forgive me, but I must wax nostalgic here. Led Zeppelin was (and continues to be) my favorite band of all time. There is just no comparison. The quality of their songs is unmatched. In truth there are only one or two that I dislike. My favorite is "When the Levee Breaks", followed by Kashmir. In my opinion Physical Graffiti was their best album.
I have been waiting for this reunion for a long time-and am supremely bummed out for not getting to watch it live. I know this sounds crazy, especially from a conservative 40ish CPA, but if I had the money, I would pay $170K to see them live! It ranks right up there with Notre Dame football and the Chicago Cubs.

Whole Lotta Love, Immigrant Song, Black Dog and Rock And Roll remain my favorite Zep songs. I sort of liked the blues influence of the first album myself. CCS did a pretty fair cover version Whole Lotta Love. Dread Zeppelin didn't do them justice though.
As much as I like Zeppelin, T.Rex, Canned Heat, The Doors, The Stranglers, Hendrix, Ten Years After and Steppenwolf still remain my overall favorite rock acts by far. Hank Williams, Jr. and John Anderson are my favorite country acts.

I saw Led Z. in 1969 at the Kinetic Playground in Chicago. This was before the "stadium concerts". I think the joint held 3,000 at the most. The warm up band was a new group that I hadn't heard of...Santana. The best concert I have ever attended. In the early days Led Z's material wasn't so studio enhanced. I still love their 2nd album.

And they will never re-unite sadly.

Not that it's obscure or one of their less-liked tracks, but I've always been partial to Immigrant Song.
