My old friend Dirty Harry (no that is not his real name) is blogging up a storm over at Libertas. If you are a huge fan of television and movies like I am, you will love the site. After reading the review of Bella, I am going to have to catch it and that is definitely not the kind of movie I would normally see. I am more into the mystery/thriller types. Libertas has quite a few posts about the recent crop of anti-war movies, as well as information about a protest of the movie Redacted set for tomorrow. Scroll down the main page and then check out the archives in the right sidebar. If you are a movie lover you will definitely find something of interest.

I have actually seen Redact... (Below threshold)1. Posted by dr lava | November 16, 2007 7:16 AM | Score: -2 (2 votes cast)
I have actually seen Redacted. It very well may be to intense for those war supporters that have this childlike vision of war as victory and honor and parades and glory and heroes.
So it may be a devastating shock to those of you Bush war cheerleaders to see the horrific death, brutality, insanity and chaos that these brave guys are just trying to survive in.
I assume that those protesting the movie have seen it?

I have not seen Redacted and did not make any comment on the movie itself. I mentioned the protest post as an example of some of the Libertas site content beyond reviews. I don't know who will be showing up at the protest so I don't know how many of them have seen it and I assume you don't know that either. I could have watched it for $19.99 on Pay per View as one of those "in the theaters" offerings, but that is a ridiculous price to pay and since my daughter had surgery recently, I have not had many opportunities to go out to the movies.
As for the condescending comment that it might be "to [sic] intense for those war supporters that have this childlike vision of war as victory and honor and parades and glory and heroes. So it may be a devastating shock to those of you Bush war cheerleaders to see the horrific death, brutality, insanity and chaos that these brave guys are just trying to survive in," I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you are not referring to any of the brave men and women who have fought in actual wars, including the war in Iraq, and who still support the mission and oppose some of the movies out now. I will also assume that when you referred to victory, honor, glory and heroes as being part of a "childlike vision of war" that you did not intend to imply that there are no instances of victory, honor, glory or heroes present in war, but that is surely how your comment came across.
