Miracle Baby In Iraq
Young Survivor Captures The Hearts Of U.S. Troops
(CBS) Her name is Fatima and the nurses caring for her guess she's about nine months old. No one knows for sure because both her parents are dead. In fact, it's a small miracle that Fatima herself isn't dead as well.
Nearly three weeks ago, she arrived at the U.S. hospital in the Green Zone emaciated and dangerously close to death. Lt. Hattie McDowell gave the underweight, weak little girl her first bath.
"When she first got here, she was so skinny. Her arms and legs were just bones, and we could see her ribs," she tells CBS News chief foreign correspondent Lara Logan.
Fatima's life was saved by her 7-year-old brother, who led Iraqi and U.S. soldiers to their home, where they discovered her mother and uncle had been shot at close range to the head. Fatima lay helpless and dying in the sweltering sun.
Interesting that the "Miracle baby" is named Fatima. Although I sure it was this one and not this one she was named after.

Those eyes! She's a cutie. It's too bad that that country doesn't allow orphans to be adopted by foreigners (us). I'm sure there's many American couples who would love to have her.

God bless the American Fighting Man and his support. And please God, pleeeeeease, couldn't you arrange for just one shower of toads or something on the sets and in the editorial rooms of the ivory towers that our so-called news people occupy ? Just asking, and while your at it, if you could possibly get this story past the brick walls at cnn, cbs, nbc, the NY crimes or even Paul Harvey for that matter. Lately he's taken to bashing our best and praising the likes of scum murtha. Work on those morons before you wipe the whole slate clean, could ya ? Most of us are alright, it's just that this "new media" thing hasn't quite taken over yet.
Just remember those conviniently self-blinded, body-count media types, don't represent the vast majority of us, we're really alright down here. Oh yeah, of course You know, you are God. I'll shutup and pray now.

This just in from Congressman Murtha......"It's a shame the marines killed the little girl's parents, they just couldn't handle the stress anymore. Damn good thing they brought the girl back to base. My sources tell me they may have been planning to eat her, however. I'll be forming a fact-finding committee with my esteemed collegues Congressmen Frank and Dingle to investigate. First we'll be calling Karl Rove to testify. It's well known he and Dick Cheney regularly eat children. More news as it develops. Now, where was I with doling out that pork....."
