Some folks may have noted that my postings have declined of late. It's been getting tougher and tougher for me to sit down in front of the keyboard and let the words pour out of me.
Several friends have noticed, and they've reassured that the quality of my work hasn't suffered, but the quantity certainly has.
It took a couple of those friends to help me realize that I am flirting with burnout -- and I do NOT want that to happen.
So I thought about taking some time off.
And they concurred.
I can't cite an exact time, but I know that it's been well over a year since I let a single day go without posting something. And I'm tired.
So, I'm taking a blogcation.
No, not a vacation. I did that last month, and blogged anyway. A "blogcation" -- a term I think I've invented -- where I take a week or so off from Wizbang, I'm going to take a virtual vacation, bopping around the internet and soak up the native ambiance and experience the quaint local customs.
One of the places I'm going to go to is North Dakota.
You see, I don't think I can give up blogging for a whole week without going stir-crazy. But I still need the time away from the responsibilities of Wizbang, and I don't think I'm capable of only partially stepping away. So Rob Port of Say Anything has agreed to publish any of my diseased ramblings that cross my mind and escape my fingers.
Also, while I'm on vacation, I'm working on a new idea that -- if I can pull it off, and get enough other people interested -- could be both the most fun I've ever had, and the biggest affect I'll ever have on the blogosphere.
Plus, I have a couple irons in the fire for expanding Wizbang beyond this page, following in the footsteps of a couple of truly worthy bloggers.
In the meantime, folks, wish me fun and stick around. I hope to come back rested, renewed, and ready for what promises to be one hell of a ride.

Hey, it's understandable. It's tough work battling liberalism and smacking around the likes of leeward and his wizblues crew.

Say it ain't so? JT, I always wondered how you maintain with all the BS that goes on on the thread. There are times that I have to turn off the sites for awhile to get my calm personality back. Rest well. ww

I will miss you, too (it would be nice to see some of our more Liberal posters chime in with the same sentiment), but I heartily endorse your taking some time to get in the "Three R's": Rest, Relaxation and Rejuvenation. And, Jay Tea, while the quantity of your posts have lessened, the quality never has.
Be well, and take care of yourself. I look forward to seeing your name in lights again!

We'll miss you around here . . . remember, Moses wandered in the wilderness for forty years and still didn't get to the Promised Land, though.
While you're out there riding the intertubes, pick me up some cheap prescription drugs, and a few sure-fire stock tips. If you run into any of those sexy babes who are just dying to meet me, help yourself.
Do hurry back.

Let me be the first to slam the door behind you, er, uh, volunteer, yes, that's it, volunteer to fill the void with insane rants while you are gone. Notice, there is no claim to replace your measured tones, that would be impossible. One this frenetic could not deliver with as calm a center-right stream of opinion as, the force for reason that is, Jay Tea. But hey, I am altogether nutz, so at least I got that going for me.
So when do I start, and who makes the coffee around here, I'm already dozing off from all of these polite slaps on the back. Oh, and I don't think "pudge" will get it anymore, from now on, just refer to me as "Old-Slash-n-Burn", e.i.t. (editor in training)

Good for you, Jay Tea..
As far as I am concerned, you are an asset to the blogosphere, and I've become an intellectually richer reader due, in part, by experiencing your writings..
Don't know if people ever take the time to say it, but thank you for all your time and effort..
I, for one, appreciate it..

I look forward to your return.
That said, try to do NOTHING for a while. You will return invigorated and mentally refreshed. My friends used to accuse me of never enjoying a vacation. Took me twenty years to figure they were right.

Great idea, Jay. You deserve a break, so enjoy it, but don't stay away too long.
I'm pretty much doing the same through the month of August, with a post here and a post there but not pushing to keep right up on every breaking story. Of course, unlike Wizbang my traffic is in the tank. C'est la vie.
