The verdict in the perjury trial of Lewis "Scooter" Libby is in, and it will be read in court at noon.
Yesterday questions from the jury indicated that there may have been some confusion about the charges.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The jury in Lewis "Scooter" Libby's perjury trial has indicated members might be confused about the charges facing the former vice presidential aide, according to questions made public on Tuesday.
The jury late on Monday asked whether prosecutors were trying to prove that Libby lied to an FBI agent about his conversation with Time magazine reporter Matt Cooper, as the indictment says. Before the jury began its 10th day of deliberations on Tuesday, lawyers for both the defense and prosecution said yes.
...Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, faces five charges: two counts of perjury, two counts of making false statements and one count of obstruction of justice. He faces up to 30 years in prison and $1.25 million in fines if found guilty.
Imagine the howls from the left if Libby is found not guilty of all charges. My best guess is that it's a mixed verdict - not guilty on obstruction and perjury, and guilty on false statements.
Update: It was a mixed verdict, but it was 4 of 5 guilty. No more comments will be accepted on this entry - the discussion has moved to the verdict post.

If found guilty of any or all charges I expect Libby will be free on appeal until January 2009, at which time he'll receive a Presidential pardon.

Guilty on all but Count 3. This is a travesty which will certainly be appealed. This is probably the best overall course, because there will be a chance for the whole story to come out, but it is hard on Libby.

Barney, you need to go back to that thread upon which you looked so foolish, and declare victory again.
