For years, we've been telling girls that they can do everything boys can, that they have the very same opportunities as the boys, that they can be just as good as the boys.
It turns out that they can be just as bad as the boys, too.
I don't remember how I was at certain ages very well. My rule of thumb is to take the age, subtract six, and use that to recall what class I was in at the time. A 10-year-old is a fourth-grader, and I simply can't imagine myself doing those sorts of things at that age.
Obviously the girl in the story needs help, not jail -- but until she can get it, I think that keeping her locked up for now is the safest thing for everyone -- her most of all.

I just don't understand how Bush could do this. I mean we know he is so evil that he would happily twist 10 year old girls to violence so he can program them into the killing machines he needs for destroying the religion of peace, but I would have thought that Massachussets with such a solid democratic government would be immune from his evil ways. What great utopia in the modern political world could there be than Boston? So I don't know how Bush did it, but it is obviously all Bush's fault.

These young'uns just doing crimes the average American won't do. A set of skills like this should be worth at $7.25 an hour when she is old enough to terrorize the workplace.

Yup, just look to the parents, or lack there of. That 10 year old probably spent more time in the company of the two teens involved than with any type of parental figure. Wouldn't be suprising if the child was on ritalin and seen by counselors once every week or two. The child was possibly egged on by the others, and because of being a child was not worried about having to face consequences. As a society we don't punish children for crimes very well.

I have said it before ... being the parent of girls ... girls are mean! My girls have been threatened, their car vandalized, etc.
That being said the way our children act are mostly the parents fault, true, HOWEVER when society takes the notion parents can't correct their own - this is one result. Once more, what are we teaching our children when it is perfectly normal to abort a life, when we give people little or no time for abusing our children, and I could go on. Really just how much is any child worth in America today? The man that kidnapped the boy named Stephen got 5 years -- he held and abused the boy longer than that. (I.E. "I Think my name is Stephen") Lets just see how much Jessica Lungsford's killer gets, or how much the Devlin guy gets for taking Shawn or Ben. Yeah, I think we are telling them they are worth as much as the troops are worth to the libs. And doing so in spades!!

We've had chavs here for years. Nothing new but the label (which we don't use in the US. "Chav/Yobbo/ABSO" is a UK label. We call them "white(trailer) trash/thugs".
