One day after Ahmadinejad's radical party was defeated, he has come out today to make the prediction that the US, Britain, and Israel will disappear like the Egyptian Pharaohs:
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has predicted that Britian, Israel and the United States would eventually disappear from the world like the Egyptian pharaonic kings.
"The oppressive powers will disappear while the Iranian people will stay. Any power that is close to God will survive while the powers who are far from God will disappear like the pharaohs," he said Wednesday, according to Iranian news agencies."Today, it is the United States, Britain and the Zionist regime which are doomed to disappear as they have moved far away from the teachings of God," he said in a speech in the western town of Javanroud.
"It is a divine promise."
I predict Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will disappear from the world long before the US, Britain, or Israel will. That is a divine promise.

It appears that Ahmadinejad's 15 minutes in the spotlight may be coming to an end. The elections in Iran this last week signaled that his support is waning.
The U.S. 11/7 election signaled to the world that Bush's disastrous approach to policy making in the middle east is ending, and that may well have caused the turn against Ahmadinejad in Iran.
So, we see the US voters reign in Bush, and within a short time we see the Iranians starting to reign in Ahmadinejad -- the world is becoming a safer place already thanks to the Democrats winning the election.

interesting conjecture, lee. however, nearly all of the polls that i have seen indicate that the republicans lost on 3 main issues:
1) corruption
2) failure to reign in federal spending (closely related to 1)
3) Illegal immigration
I see it stated in the media and on democratic/left leaning websites that the biggest reason that Republicans lost was because of the war. But I have not seen any in depth analysis to support this hypothosis. And no one who makes this claim mentions the fact that Lieberman won in CT, even tho he is most decidedly pro-war in an otherwise anti-war state.

Kim, You and Ahmad should get a room! But seriously: Give it up! Rapproachment with Iran will make the Iraqi (non-Persian) Shiites insecure enough to consolidate their OWN areas. Restore the Baathists in the Sunni enclave and leave the Kurds be. Next, go to Turkey and offer most-favored trading status in return for a Turko-Kurdish friendship agreement AND an Afghani share of the worldwide medical opium concession. If they want NATO membership, give it. The point: Turkey and Pakistan are the wild cards, but Turkey doesn't wish to be. If its opium monopoly can be opened to Afghanistan's economic benefit, the Taliban will cease being employers and will become as welcome as snakes. Weak Taliban= a stable, still friendly, nuclear Pakistan.

Good. I like this. Tell all your friends -- in fact, let it begin here, with you guys: either the Republican party runs on the war in 2008 -- the desirability of starting, as well as continuing it -- or you're full of shit, here and now and forever.
Because if the Republican party does not run on the war, that would prove that the war has been and will be unpopular in this country, that Republican pollsters are smarter than the average Wizbang armchair quarterback, or at least they're smart enough to see that it affected the election in a big way.
Or was all that noise about the media undermining the war effort by depressing the folks at home just more whining, more neocon posturing, just a bunch of know-nothing dittoheads trying to make the free press curl up and die? Do you people mean anything you say? Get your little story straight, people.
As far as Ahmadinejad goes, we make him or break him right here. He is not a good administrator or ruler in any sense. What has he got? Us. We take the hard line with him all the way and people in the Middle East will love him, because he'll just puff out his fluffy little chest and make manly noises back. I'd love to hear you deny that; nobody would give you a second hearing.
This is a fact: the only time Ahmadinejad looks good to anybody in his country is when he shifts Iran's attentions from his actions to ours. He could not survive with out Dubya.

I bumped onto this site and was wondering what ignorance could do to humans.America is such a wonderful nation, Europe is so rich in culture, amazing history. Both have educated people...people who have been to school...read history. We dont have the excuse that underpriveleged illiterate children in so many countries have,Yet theres sucha huge control that media has over our common sense and the goverments have over the media in this century when, we have the history as reference and access to information is on our fingertips thanks to the internet,we are supposedly in the information age yet still so uninformed,we still believe whatever the media wants us to.Is it do difficult to understand that the government plays the same game, everywhere. To be a hero you need a villain, otherwise why would a hero be important. The American government is unfortunately being led by a man who may be a hero for some, but is detested the world over because of his selfish policies, and he is not even benefitting the American people either. He is behaving like a school bully who picks on weak kids and then gets a kick out of beating them up.
Is it fair to say that America is the preserver of peace? when it has attacked weak countries that never attacked it?
Is it proper to claim that the tragedy of 9/11 had anything to do with afghanistan? ( nothing absolutely nothing concrete has been proven till now),but the American government wants to justify it by saying that it was to capture the evil bin laden...then why wait for a month and allow him to escape easily, what was the objective?
Is it not the same Iraq which never attacked any American...EVER.....thats ruined today...thanks to America? Hunderds of thousands of precious innocent lives lost on both the sides, families wrecked, dreams shattered, lives changed mercilessly. When we see a movie based on the holocoust...we feel disgusted that such gruesome inhuman acts have happened and how the public could support a maniac like Hitler and feel that if we were there,we wouldve never voted for Hitler.
Is America not trying to pick on Iran again now?...the same policy they used with Iraq.Warnings being given...Americans being scared to believe that Iran is evil and is going to destroy the world and America has to save the world again.Isnt James Bond enough to entertain us without actually killing humans?
We are all after all humans and we all know that there are some traits found in animals of any species, like if you try to attack even a small bird's nest...the bird will try to defend it as much as it can, even though you are a hundered times it's size. The same goes for other countries - America is invading their homes - for no fault of theirs - then why should they not retaliate? and when they do...the American government labels them as maybe terrorists or factionalists or destroyers of peace, the media is ordered to hype it up and the public starts to hate them.I dont wish to say that terrorism is the right way to retaliate but then suppose your house is attacked?..would you not do anything in your powers to defend it? will you be considered wrong in doing so? you will...but only by the attackers because they dont want any obstruction.
Americans should realise that there is a world out there, with humans who share the same feelings that they share about their own families, they go thru the same emotions when something happens to their families, they too have dreams and ambitions for their children and they also have the same patriotism for their countries as Americans have for America,do you thnk they are wrong? because if they're are wrong then everyone is wrong and two wrongs can never make a right.
Remember the movie 'Home Alone'? the kid who is in his house alone and two burglers want to break in? He is small and weak in front of the attackers and cant fight them one on one and so he has to think up of different ways to defend himself and his house, and he does anything that he can to ward them off...anything!! Well thats pretty much the same thing happening everywhere.More so because,if you realise, when was the last time you saw a peaceful protest being taken seriously by a world leader and made him change his plans?
I hate Osama, I hated Saddam because they are misguided souls who can only bring destruction to humanity and misuse power just like Hitler did earlier. But I dont like Mr.Bush either because he is no better. The simlarities are many but he can hide under the roof of the white house wearing a suit and smiling to the cameras, pretending to be a hero. The ignorant will get fooled....the wise will judge him by the facts.Ignorance maybe bliss...but then ignorants are also considered to be fools.
I'am moslem and my wife is a devout christian,we love each other endlessly and respect each others beliefs, which are almost the same, save one or two changes, our two children can be what they like as long as they believe in one God and love him and fear him, but above all, i want them to be good human beings and treat everyone with compassion, respect and be clear between what is right and what is wrong.
That's my take on life!!!
