Oddly enough, after my earlier piece involving children and parents, I find this story5 about a mother getting in hot water because of something her kid did -- in a roundabout way.
An elementary-school principal from Lowell, Massachusetts was visiting her son, currently a guest of the state of New Hampshire in a minimum-security prison. At that time, she arranged to get him a little Christmas present -- some cigarettes, a lighter, and some chewing tobacco. The only problem is that they're forbidden to prisoners, so they planned to have them left by the fence where he would recover them. Instead, officials caught him red-handed, and he's been sent back to the Big House and faces big problems. Momma is also in hot water, facing felony charges and (according to one report I heard) being fired from her job.
Curse that infernal tobacco...

The mother's willingness to break the law makes me wonder if she isn't the reason her son is in prison to start with.

Since she is a govt employee of Mass, sure, she could give one of her students after having sex with him/her, and the Mass legislature will make sure she not only keeps her job, but gets a raise.

I have to wonder. She knew that they were contraband. She knew that it was wrong. She chose to do it. Then she should live with the consequences of her actions.
Why is this the son's fault?
