Osama bin Laden, America's most wanted man, will not face capture in Pakistan if he agrees to lead a "peaceful life," Pakistani officials tell ABC News.

The surprising announcement comes as Pakistani army officials announced they were pulling their troops out of the North Waziristan region as part of a "peace deal" with the Taliban.

If he is in Pakistan, bin Laden "would not be taken into custody," Major General Shaukat Sultan Khan told ABC News in a telephone interview, "as long as one is being like a peaceful citizen."

Ah, our fine allies in the war on terror, the Pakistanis. Sure, they may let the little fish like Bin Laden get away (if they're peaceful), but they will help us with the big ones, like a bunch of British dopes who don't even have passports with a half-baked plan to bring explosives in soda bottles onto planes.

If there is a big fish at the end of this operation, how quickly will the nutcases on the Left start claiming that it's all a conspiracy to help Republicans in November and that we've really had the guy in custody for months?

Anybody want to give odds? I'd say it would be less than 24 hours before someone said "conspiracy" on this one.
