Take a look at the video of Lieutenant Colonel Randolph C. White giving the graduation address in Fort Benning, Georgia, for the newest group of Infantrymen. Blackfive found Lt. Col. White so inspirational he said he would, "follow [him] into hell carrying a gasoline can." Allah at Hot Air has a portion of the speech that I particularly like.

DON'T LET THE PESSIMISTIC TELEVISION TALKING HEADS, HIGH BROWED NEWSPAPER WRITERS, HOLLYWOOD IDIOTS, OR ANY OTHER FACTION OF THE “BLAME AMERICA FIRST” CROWD GET YOU DOWN! …. I'M SPEAKING OF THE “LATTE BISCOTTI CROWD”. THEY ARE SIMPLE BACKGROUND CHATTER MEN....AND WILL ALWAYS EXISTS ON THE PERIPHERY OF ANY ENDEAVOR THAT REQUIRES SELFLESS SERVICE OR LOYALTY. THEY ARE NOT WORTHY OF YOUR CONCERN AND TRUTH BE TOLD – IN THE PIT OF THEIR COWARDLY HEARTS – THEY WISH THEY COULD BE LIKE YOU.
My only son leaves next month for Fort Benning to attend Infantry Training and Airborne school.
He is honoring me by following in my footsteps and I couldn’t be prouder.
I’m printing a copy of this for him now.
Wow, this stuff can really choke a guy up.

This was one of the best speeches I've ever heard in my life. I think it's because it went right to the core of my beliefs, with no pussyfooting around.
Jumpinjoe, thank you for your service, and God bless your son and keep him safe.

Thank-you Maggie and Justrand for your kind words. I’m proud and worried at the same time. And now I finally understand how my own mother felt back when I left for the Army. I understood her concern, but now I share the actual emotions.
Funny, true story. My mother did come and see me once perform in an airshow when I was skydiving with the Golden Knights. Every time I jumped that weekend she covered her face until I was on the ground. When the weekend was over she showed everyone she knew the pictures (my brothers took the photos) of that weekend.
She was too worried to actually watch me but also was overwhelmingly proud to show me off.
Now I know exactly how she felt.

What a load of *&^%! It is this 'us' against 'them' mentality that really gets my goat.
It isn't the elite against the common man, and never has been.

i don't know that i'd go as far as hell, but were i in the military, he seems like a man i would be proud to follow.
also, i love that he used the expression "intestinal fortitude."

Simplistic garbage from White for the Good Ol boys. Whay don't you all grow up, wise up, shape up and start thinking with the big head God gave you.
Or are you all too stupid, having been INFORMED by Bill O'Reilly.
Don't forget heroes, its a fact that your C in C didn't have the balls to serve his country in vietnam, and only serves his rich friends now.
Wanna be the security team for corporate thieves who don't even look after their fellow Americans - go ahead.
Trouble was we need a strong US military to deal with REAL threats, instead the idiot Bush, stuffed it up.
Just wise up boys
