I resolve never to be thankful that a 4-year-old takes a 3 1/2 hour nap in the afternoon during "quiet time." no matter how peacefully quiet the afternoon is.

No resolution, I just reme... (Below threshold)1. Posted by mesablue | December 31, 2005 3:11 AM | Score: 0 (0 votes cast)
No resolution, I just remember how many times I woke up cranky kids from long naps to make sure that they'd fall asleep at their normal time. It made me feel bad at the time, but by the second child I knew we'd both be much happier in the long run.
Thanks for the memory. And, I'm going to bed without setting an alarm for a great nights sleep.
Happy New Year to you and your family; to Jay Tea and Paul and the rest of the Wizbang crowd as well.

Dressing better is alway a good place to start, especially when you are in the public eye once in a while.
So we are giving you a make over........you've earned it.

If that happens again, just feed the kid some fairly heavy food an hour before bedtime. Then a nice warm cup of weak cocoa - BOOM ... out like a light.

Been there, suffered that.
I resolve to not procrastinate. Maybe I'll just wait til next year for that one.

Kevin, I feel your pain.
My son turned 5 last Thanksgiving, and he is often hyperactive when it is his bedtime. I might be damned for saying this, but at times I am happy whenever my son is needing medicine for coughing or sneezing. At such times, I have an excuse to give him medicine that will make him sleepy, and I give the medicine 1 1/2 hours before his bedtime. Oh, the warm milk helps, too.

In the past the British gave their kids laudanum tea. (as Emeril would say: "BAM!")
