Two bad crashes today are dominating the news.
31 Marines were killed when their helicopter went down in Iraq. It was apparently weather related. As James Joyner routinely notes, those things just ain't that safe.
And 10 people are dead from a train derailment in Los Angles. The wreck was caused when someone decided to commit suicide by parking on the train track. Tragically, he brought 9 more with him and hurt dozens. Then the shithead got out the car and watched it happen. (An earlier radio report I heard said he committed suicide. I assume later reports are more accurate)

Actually, according to CNN the guy that was going to kill himself changed his mind and watched the whole thing unfold.
So, the only person that SHOULD be dead survived.
What a dick.

Let's see, California.....it's only a matter of time before we learn he was so upset that Bush was re-elected that he didn't want to live anymore. You can bet money the claim will be Bush's policies/re-election/war/whatever that brought this all about.

Re Train derailment:
"Adams said Alvarez has an arrest record for unspecified drug violations..."
I wonder if this will turn out to be another case of an illegal immigrant who should have been deported long ago.

So the Golden State will waste millions of dollars ensuring the AssKnobTM gets his due process only to end up doing to him what he didn't have the cojones to do himself.
Sometime in the year 2030.
Better idea: Take him off suicide-watch and provide him with a rope and a chair.

Thanks, Paul, I've now read Michelle Malkin's posts. Amazing! "...about 40,000 of the 170,000 inmates who come through the county jail each year are in the United States illegally."
Michelle M. has called the CA authorities to find out if Alvarez is an illegal alien, but has received no specific info yet. O'Reilly on Foxnews the same. I don't see why it's so difficult to ascertain whether a person in custody is here legally or not. All it takes is a birth certificate. If it's a non-US certificate, check INS records to see if he's been given a visa, green card or citizenship. If it's a US birth certificate, verify if it's real. If the person claims he has no birth certificate - it can easily be obtained if the person was born in the US. So, unless he comes up with a US birth certificate, go straight to INS records. Am I missing anything?
