Ok, Aylward, let's get something straight ok? When I am at work, I use remoted desktop to control my home pc's. Keeps my surfing habits private. To speed things up, I turn off images. If I see NSFW, that means I usually have to cut and past the URL and say 'screw it and bring it over'. Didn't work this time ;)
If I get fired, I'm blaming you. It won't help, but you're getting blamed anyway.

Discovery.com has a very cool video animation made from satellite measurements of the height of the ocean's surface during the tsunami.

Kofi question, "Where are the people"? The UN leadership... clueless AGAIN.
If the UN had been on the ground sooner, he might have saved some of them.

Re thesmokinggun.com website's article on Michael Jackson:
If its author reviewed "confidential law enforcement and government reports, grand jury testimony, and sealed court records provided to TSG by sources," let's see them. Otherwise, how do we know any of their allegations are true.

Re Tsunami, UN, etc.:
Why don't I hear more news about Myanmar (Burma)? I keep hearing about Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and Sumatra (Indonesia). And yet the coast of Burma makes up a very large part of the semi-circle of coastline of the Bay of Bengal.
In an AP article, a Burmese hotel worker on the phone said "Water receded from the beach for about one kilometer, and 10 minutes later, the water came up to the beach at the normal level."
"At the normal level." Is that possible? The southern part of Myanmar's coastline lies due east from the badly-hit Indian islands of Nicobar and Andaman, and is much closer to the epicenter of the quake than the Indian mainland to the northwest.
The Myanmar govt says only about 60 deaths in the whole country. But in the above-linked article, an exile Burmese who lives close by said: "...In Busshin and Laputta, about 7,000 shanty houses of fishermen and villagers were washed away and about 70 fishing boats sank, they [local aid workers] said."
It would seem there would be massive numbers of dead in those 2 towns alone.
The explanation for the Myanmar govt's under-reporting and the absence of reporters on the ground may be political: "But there are military installations in the south that may make access difficult."
"'The military government has deployed large numbers of troops into the areas and is not allowing people to speak about the damage,' Zin Linn said Tuesday."
It would be a shame if people in need of help are being denied help from outside because of the communist govt's military secrecy concerns there.
