If you were going to make a list of the Top Ten Media Failings In 2004, regardless of your political affiliation, don't you think the Rathergate affair would be on it?
The "progressive research" specialists at Media Matters must not have been watching the same media coverage as the rest of the nation, as they failed to rank it, and darn near failed to mention it...
- Kevin... A thourogh reading of both the links show them to be no much more than DNC media arms...I won't even take the time to bother refuting anything on either site... They repeat ALL of the lies and distortions of the Kerry camp....From their point of view the failures of the MSM all stem from not lying and pushing the distortions ENOUGH.....Totally a waste of time to even respond to them....

Media Mutters is ... dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media. Conservative misinformation is defined as news or commentary presented in the media that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda.
Sounds 'noble', until you realize that anything not socialist is conservative agenda to these people. Writers come from the Alliance for Justice, Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Violence Policy Center, National Partnership for Women and Families, General Clark, and Howard Dean's campaign. It's actually a retirement home, a place where the castoffs from losing LLL agendas can be pastured.
In the end, Media Mutters is just another scam to extract money from Soros and other koolaid guzzlers.

I've long described Media Matters as cargo-cult media criticism: they have taken the form of conservative critics of the media and totally misunderstood the point.
Rathergate was the most egregious, but really the most significant media failing by far this year was the failure of the MSM to investigate the Oil-for-Food scam, which is bigger than Enron and Abu Ghraib all rolled into one.

Do they really believe it?
I have a pretty big bully pulpit here at Wizbang and I'll be damned if I could get that many facts wrong and still be proud of my work.... I dunno- Major disconnect.

Can anyone say "Salman Pak"?
Can't get anymore blatantly ignorant than that.
The above quote from #1 proves that they're simply upset at not lying well enough, or early enough.

After reading their article, I have come to the conclusion that there is really only one Media Failing in 2004; that the media failed to boot dubya outta the white house and move Kerry in.
In other words, not only has the media failed to accurately provide the news, but they have also failed to properly disseminate propaganda.
I never thought I'd be so glad that journalists were incompetent.
But truthfully I give them too much credit. The truth is that the American people are far wiser than the punditry gives them credit for.

They repeat the bogus claim of "That means more Americans cast their vote against Bush than against any other presidential candidate in U.S. history."
The votes cast against Clinton in 1992 totaled 58,845,539... that's more than Kerry and Nader (the "Anti-Bush Vote") received this time around.
