LOS ANGELES (AP) - Janet Leigh, the wholesome beauty whose shocking murder in the classic Alfred Hitchcock thriller "Psycho" was credited with making generations of film fans think twice about stepping into a motel room shower, has died. She was 77.
It's hard to explain to those to who grew up on slasher flicks and "can you top this" horror-fests just how groundbreaking and frightening Leigh's performance in "Psycho" was.

My sympathies to the family and to her daughter, Jamie Lee Curtis. Her mother suffered before she passed on.
AND I still hate getting into a shower.
AND everytime I see a movie or a show when a woman gets into the shower, THIS always comes to mind. (sort of like THE BIRDS - who's daughter is also an actress.)

Kevin,
The slasher flicks I will not watch because they can't compare to the psychological horror of these wonderful classics. Remember "the Hand?" I hated that movie. How about "the heart that beated under the floor" now movies like that were movies!!!
I agree with you.

My mother was pregnent with my sister when she went to see that movie. My sister almost arrived early due to that shower scene. Hitchcock was a master.
Rest in peace.

What a great movie. I watched it again last week on TCM I believe. Anyone who has not seen the original Psycho is doing themselves a grave disservice.
