Once upon a time people ran in fear when the word, "I'm Mike Wallace, can I ask you a couple questions?" were spoken.
Those day's are gone. From CNN:
Mike Wallace arrested
CBS News veteran Mike Wallace, 86, was arrested Tuesday evening outside a New York City restaurant and issued a summons for disorderly conduct.
NEW YORK (CNN) -- CBS News veteran Mike Wallace, 86, was arrested Tuesday evening outside a New York City restaurant and issued a summons for disorderly conduct.Expect to see an expose on the New York Taxi Commission next season on 60 Minutes....Two TLC inspectors saw that Wallace's vehicle, registered with the commission, was double-parked and approached the driver. According to Fromberg, while the two inspectors were questioning the driver and checking the vehicle, Wallace came out of Luke's Bar and Grill on Manhattan's Upper East side carrying a take-out order.
Wallace then approached the two inspectors, Fromberg said, in an "overtly assertive and disrespectful manner." Wallace was asked to step away three times by the inspectors. Wallace did not comply.
After the third request to step aside, Wallace "[lunged] at one of the inspectors," Fromberg said.
The second inspector handcuffed Wallace and placed him in an unmarked TLC vehicle. Wallace was then escorted to the 19th precinct and "issued a summons for disorderly conduct," Fromberg said.

That was funny. I always thought he was an arrogant dick, I guess old age has not changed that. But he still looks good though. Isnt he like 80 something.

Not being local enough to interpret TLC correctly. Using the old "Tender Loving Care" translation, TLC Inspectors arresting anyone is funny.

I've met him, and he's kind of out-of-it. Repeats himself, rambles like a mofo.

Anyone else hear the rumor that Wallace's take-out order from Luke's Bar and Grill was two pints of Mad Dog 20/20?

No, no,no, Mike Wallace ordered from his office for pick up what he usually orders - meatloaf and mashed potatoes. When I saw him on the steps of God only knows where, he was yakking about, and I'm sure that even if he had lunged at the cop, they had no reason to cuff him and arrest him. You don't treat an icon and an 86 year old man like that - they could have hurt him. Now the Lukes Restaurant store owner said that the cops roughed him up, well, maybe they did and they should not have done so and definitely not cuffed the man and shove him into a car and take him to the station. The whole thing is ridiculous. When he did get out of jail, he took his meatloaf and mashed potatoes home, heated them up in the microwave and ate his dinner. I guess he goes there at least once a week for years and years and years. This was inexcusable. He doesn't look 86 but that is how old he is and in what health? who knows? There's more important things for those guys to do on the street than grab and old icon who's still on tv, cuff him and take him to jail. How stupid of them. That's my opinion.

You're right, aside from the fact he ... lunged at the cop. Sorry, FBA.

Okay, the man is eighty-freakin-six! How vicious or threatening could this alleged "lunge" really be? Nice to know NYC's finest have the rapes, murders, drugs, and gang activities so under control that a double-parked car can now be such a priority though.

TLC should be real proud of themselves; for getting this criminal off the streets. I mean I am sure Mr. Wallace must have been very scary for them! He has always had a reputation for picking fist fights. Over the years when I hear his name the first thing that comes to mind is him standing on the corner or some doorway picking fights as people walk by. What a thug. At 86 he is just as bad as ever. Lets face reality if he was not arrested he might have injured the two officers that were probably about a third of his age.

Those two Taxi Pigs got what they deserve: desk duty and a refresher course in how to do their jobs. Arresting an 86 year old man who rides in the back of a limo for disorderly is just plain stupid.
