Polls: Rice Testimony Changed Few Minds

Condoleezza Rice apparently didn't change many minds with her Thursday appearance before the commission investigating the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Three-fourths in a CBS News poll Thursday night said they think those in the Bush administration are either hiding something (66 percent), or lying (10 percent), about what they knew before the terrorist attacks in September 2001. That was essentially unchanged from a CBS poll taken last week.

April 9 (Bloomberg) -- A growing number of Americans say they believe the administration of U.S. President George W. Bush did everything that could be expected to stop the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, according to two new polls.

A Time/CNN survey taken yesterday showed that 48 percent of Americans said they believe the Bush administration did all it could to prevent the attacks, up from 42 percent in a poll taken March 26-28. A CBS News poll, also conducted yesterday, showed 32 percent of Americans said the administration did everything possible to stop the attacks, up from 22 percent the previous week.

Poll: Rice testimony yields mixed results for White House

(CNN) -- Compared with two weeks ago, fewer Americans now think the Bush administration failed to do all it could to prevent the September 11, 2001, terror attacks, but nearly two-thirds think the White House had no strategy to take out al Qaeda prior to the attacks, according to a poll released Friday....

Forty percent of the 1,000 Americans polled said that the administration, based on the information it had, could have done more to stop the terrorist attacks, compared with 54 percent in a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll conducted March 26-28.

No matter what you want to prove, somebody has numbers to back it up.

And I should note some of these contradictory poll findings were run by the same news sources within 3 hours of each other.
