In my neck of the woods a school girl was seriously injured today while standing at a school bus stop by a falling tree. This is from the Washington Post:
A cool, dry, forceful wind swept out of the Plains states and into the Washington region Thursday, bringing down trees and power lines and seriously injuring a Loudoun County girl who was hit by a heavy tree while waiting for her school bus.I'm going to try to get more information on the girl and her condition.
The 14-year-old student at Dominion High School in Sterling was flown to Children's Hospital in Washington. There was no immediate word on her condition.

This wind is crazy. I was nearly hit by a flying ATM machine today. Well, not the whole machine, but the front metal portion that came flying off.
Hope the girl will be ok.
